In the past, you just could moore to the pier in Lefkas-town. The berths are free, but aswell without water and electricity and in the night, it is quite noisy. Since 2001, a new marina has opened, which offers any comfort you may need and which is very central situated in the Ionian sea. At the time of publishing, the marina is not completely finished, but they work hard on it and make good progress. All important buildings like supermarket, small café, official tower, toilets and showers are in use. The staff, from manager Spiros and the ladies in the office to the marineros are very friendly and try to fullfill all your wishes. In the meantime, a group of cruisersailors and livaboards have discovered the marina for themselves, so you can expect social life in winter here aswell.
After reaching the marina, call channel 69, the dinghi will come immediately and lead the yacht to her berth.
There is a special aspect, making Lefkas Marina very interesting: although an island, Lefkas is connected to the mainland by an opening bridge, which opens every hour for the passage of the yachts. So, you have the chance to explore mainland Greece by car without using a ferry!
The air-pictures have been made by the marina and are shown in full size, when you click on them.
