New tax-law for pleasureboats

INFORMATION NOTE
We would like to inform you that according to the Law 2743/1999 article 11 of the Greek State, since 14th of January 2000 recreational vessels (yachts) length overall over seven (7) meters, regardless flag, which do not stay permanently into Greek ports are subject to pay taxes in favor of special account Port Police.
These taxes come up to 2.000 dr. for each meter of the vessel length overall, are paid once when the yacht sail in a Greek port for first time and enables the yacht to approach other Greek ports, bays or coasts for the 30 days internal, without any other financial charging.
When the period of the first 30 days passes 2.000 dr. for each meter of the vessel length overall have to be paid at the first port the vessel sails in, in order to assure another month staying to our country.
If the vessel departs to abroad before the expiring period of the 30 days, and later on reaproaches another Greek port 15.000 dr. taxes for each meter of the vessel length overall will be paid obligatorily.
Permanent staying into a port means the continuous staying of the vessel to our country for a year period. During this period the vessel is free to visit ports abroad for a period less of thirty (30) days.
For any offense of the Law 2743/1999 port Authority has the right to put fine imposition which varies from 200.000 dr. to 5.000.000 million dr., and additionally to prohibit the departure of the yacht until the owed taxes be paid.
Take into consideration that the above mentioned taxes will be paid regardless the port taxes which are paid at each Greek port for the usage of port facilities.
